Ian Gillan
? He’s an elder statesman of rock, he was the original Jesus Christ Superstar, and co-wroteSmoke on the Water
(one of the most popular songs of all time) among dozens of other hits. He has played to tens of millions of fans, and sold over one hundred million records. He IS the voice of rock and roll, and has inspired generations of singers. He’s an author, a playwright, a screenwriter, a songwriter and a philosopher with a wicked sense of humor and a bit of the devil in his eye. Pavarotti said he is a genius, and David Gilmour said as long as Gillan is singing, rock and roll is not dead. And most of all, he’s got a seasoned impassioned voice and lyrical sense still better than any in rock and roll after forty years of giving it his all.

Come on board my tour bus, have a wee drink and share the journey.
The tour actually took place last year, but is now available in the new ‘deluxe’ tour edition of Gillan’s Inn.
Driven by impecuniosity, or Les as he was more familiarly known – our bus hurtled through N. America to deliver us almost nightly to the stage door of some venue or another. Occasionally we had the luxury of a hotel – I’ll never forget The Dream Land Motel – in Moose Jaw strangely enough, and that’s in Saskatchewan. I was hoping to meet Percy Schmeiser there (DF 20 at http://www.gillan.com/friends20.html) much to the intrigue of our drummer Randy Cooke - but it was not to be, as our gig in Saskatoon was cancelled due to lack of interest.

Celebrating 40 years as a touring musician with the incredible multimedia DualDisc, Gillan’s Inn, Gillan wanted to make the solo tour very fan-friendly and interactive, and even encouraged fans to bring digital and video cameras and recording gear to his shows. Much of the resulting footage, stills, and music made their way to Gillan’s website (www.gillansinn.com) and selected content was chosen to appear on the updated version of Gillan’s Inn-The Deluxe Tour Edition, set for an October 9 release.

Good morning from Montevideo. The sun has just risen over the Atlantic and made a welcome visit to my hotel suite. There’s plenty of room in here because my luggage is still in Buenos Aires. I’ve been told there’s a vague pissabolity I may catch up with it in a couple of weeks when we play the last show in Argentina, at The Estadio Pepsi Music.
